Now these are just my opinions, and my head cannon will always be that either Korra regained her connection later in life or the next avatar was simply connected to all avatars. But by taking away the connections the original show felt inconsequential. Something can be inspired or directly taken from another thing while still being original, and I feel korra did this. LOK is a separate show from ATLA, I get that, but by destroying Korras connection the show also threw away its roots in the original show. Like I mentioned above it weakened the concept of the avatar, so while Korra grew as a character the avatar became nothing more than some person. I agree that it made Korra a stronger character, but once the strengthening of Korra was over and done they should have returned her to the cycle of previous avatars. By taking away the past lives, the avatar became nothing more than an OP bender. This is why aangs struggle to be the avatar was meaningful. The avatar was never interesting because they could bend all the elements, they were interesting because they represented something much larger than themselves. They were so much more than just someone who could bend all four elements, they held the balance of the world on their shoulders.

The avatar was never a warrior but rather a protector. I want to know what everyone else thinks, here are my opinions. I mean they win the battle, but Korra losing her connection with the other avatars forever is just horrible. Well I am nearly done with my yearly re watch of both shows, just finishing up LOK season 2, and once again I am feeling bitter about the ending. The Minecraft server IP is, more info here. These avatar themed subreddits are fully or partially run by moderators of /r/TheLastAirbender They build towards LoK and answer some questions left at the end of ATLA. There are several main comics which take place shortly after ATLA.

This is unlike a normal person like Ozai vs Aang- the difference is too obvious, both are powered by the comet, by Aang is still leagues ahead because of the Avatar State. Just four things 1) The reason why Korra doesn’t seem too strong in her Avatar State is first, she abuses it, and second when she finally got serious Unavaatu is equal to her. It was her title that she was given from birth and she wore it with pride and it often made… The thing with Korra, is that unlike Aang, the Avatar is who she’s always been. i just wish it hadn’t taken 2 seasons to finally get it.
